This hands-on 1-day course is based on the current Microsoft 365 Desktop version of Outlook. Participants using earlier versions of Outlook will be able to follow along, although some of the newest features may not be available in older versions.
This course is designed for learners with no previous experience with Outlook and for those who use Outlook for basic tasks but have not had recent training. Experienced self-taught users may find this course a valuable refresher.
Microsoft Outlook is a powerful communication and organization tool used for managing email, calendars, contacts, tasks, and meetings in one integrated application. Widely used in business and professional environments, Outlook helps users stay organized by streamlining daily communication and scheduling. Its features include advanced email management tools, shared calendars, appointment scheduling, contact management, reminders, and integration with Microsoft Teams and other Microsoft 365 apps. Whether used on a desktop, web browser, or mobile device, Outlook provides a centralized hub for staying on top of messages, coordinating with colleagues, and managing day-to-day tasks efficiently.
Through the use of hands-on exercises participants will learn to:
Overview of the Outlook interface, key panes, navigation bar, and the role of Outlook within Microsoft 365
Composing, replying, forwarding, attaching files, formatting messages, and understanding message options
Sending attachments, previewing files, saving attachments
Creating and updating contacts, using contact groups, and understanding how contacts sync across devices
Creating appointments and events, viewing different calendar layouts, inviting attendees, and managing meeting responses
Sending meeting invitations, reserving rooms (if applicable), checking availability with Scheduling Assistant, and handling meeting updates or cancellations
Creating, editing, and tracking basic tasks and reminders to support personal productivity
Adjusting basic options such as signature setup, reading pane configuration, and notification preferences
Learn to be more efficient in Outlook and what resources are available
Using AI (CoPilot, ChatGPT etc.)
