Microsoft 365 - Word Level 1
Overview
This hands-on 1-day course is based on the current Microsoft 365 Desktop version of Word. Participants using Word 2016 or later will be able to follow along, although some of the newest features may not be available in older versions.
This course is designed for learners with no previous experience with Word and for those who use Word for basic tasks but have not had recent training. Experienced self-taught users may find this course a valuable refresher.
Microsoft Word is a powerful word processing application that enables users to create, edit, format, and share professional-quality documents. It is part of the Microsoft 365 suite and is widely used in business, education, and personal settings for producing everything from simple letters and resumes to detailed reports, proposals, and publications. Word provides a wide range of tools for working with text, tables, images, and layouts, as well as features for reviewing and collaborating on documents through comments and track changes. Its flexibility, formatting precision, and integration with other Microsoft apps make it one of the most essential tools for written communication and document design.

- A thorough understanding of the Windows operating environment
- Strong mouse and keyboard ability
Learning Objectives
Through the use of hands-on exercises participants will learn to:
- Create and save documents for easy retrieval
- Insert and delete text to edit a document
- Move, copy, and replace text
- Modify text for emphasis
- Learn document and paragraph formatting
- Set and remove tab stops to enhance document appearance
- Use margins, indents, bullets, and numbering to change text layout
- Begin to use Styles
- Use templates and Style Sets to create and enhance documents

Interface tour: Ribbon, Quick Access Toolbar, Backstage, document creation, saving and file locations.
Module 2 - Editing and Formatting Text
Entering and selecting text, moving and copying text, applying formatting, understanding Character, Paragraph, Section and Document tools
Using Undo and Redo, Find and Replace, Format Painter, Bullets and Numbers
Module 3 - Formatting Documents
Formatting Paragraphs, Line and Paragraph Spacing, the Ruler, Indenting and Tabs
Formatting Pages and Sections, Margins
Printing, PDF
Module 4 - Advanced Setup Techniques
Section Breaks, Headers and Footers, Page Numbering, Quick Parts, Table of Contents
